What the site is
People and Position is a free reference to notable people. It is for general information only. Facts can be incomplete or out of date, and nothing here is professional, financial or legal advice.
The Position Index
The Index measures attention and reach from public Wikipedia statistics, as explained on the method page. It is not a judgement of anyone’s worth, character or achievements, and a high rank is not an endorsement.
Content and licences
Facts from Wikidata are in the public domain (CC0). Text drawn from Wikipedia is used under CC BY-SA and credited where it appears. Each portrait keeps its own Wikimedia Commons licence, named with its author beneath it; reuse it under that licence, not ours. The design, code, rankings and original writing on this site belong to People and Position.
The Journal
Journal articles are written with AI from the sources listed under each one, and checked against them automatically. Sensitive stories are reviewed by a person before publication. Headlines from other outlets are linked, not reproduced. If an article gets something wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.
